Industry Overview

Building HVAC and building service pumps are special fluid transport equipment designed for building heating, central air-conditioning cooling, high-rise secondary water supply and district heating pipe networks. They mainly deliver clean water, ethylene glycol antifreeze solution and hot/chilled circulating water, serving as core power components for HVAC systems in commercial buildings, residential communities, hospitals, hotels and data centers.

Different from general clean water pumps and chemical pumps, HVAC building pumps operate continuously 24/7 with special requirements for low noise, variable frequency energy saving, constant temperature sealing, compact footprint and stable pressure regulation. They handle non-corrosive, non-flammable media without high-level explosion-proof configurations, covering three core working conditions: closed hot/cold circulation pipe networks, open makeup water systems and high-rise pressure boosting water supply. They run through the full cycle of building heating, chilled water circulation, cooling water delivery, domestic secondary pressurization and floor heating circulation.

Industry Challenges

1. Extreme Pressure Imbalance: Super high-rise residential and commercial buildings suffer significant pressure differentials between upper and lower floors

2. Unstable Operation at Peak Loads: High-rise floors experience drastic pressure drops and insufficient flow during peak water/heating loads, while low-rise floors endure excessive pressure that may cause pipe rupture.

3. Insufficient Head of Single-Stage Pumps: Conventional single-stage pumps cannot generate enough head to maintain steady circulation of hot and chilled media to rooftop heat exchange systems.

Key Advantages

  • Segmented Pressurization: Multi-stage impellers deliver a head range of 20–300 m, perfectly suited for buildings of different floor heights.
  • Constant Pressure Output: When matched with a VFD control cabinet, it equalizes water pressure across all floors and thoroughly erases pressure fluctuations under peak load conditions.
  • Stable HVAC Circulation: It guarantees consistent circulation of chilled water and heating hot water for the whole building's central air conditioning systems.

RFQ

Which pump takes the least floor space for compact basement machine rooms?

Vertical pumps (CDL multistage, KCL inline pumps) feature inline suction & discharge ports to connect pipelines directly without heavy concrete foundations, occupying only 1/3 floor space of horizontal pumps, ideal for mezzanines and compact old pump room renovation.

Can pump inlet and outlet pipes be hard-connected directly?

Hard connection is not recommended. Rubber flexible joints must be installed to absorb operating vibration, prevent pipeline weld cracking and pump deformation, and reduce noise transmission in machine rooms.

Can new pumps be installed directly without replacing original pipelines during old HVAC renovation?

Vertical inline pumps adopt standard coaxial flange dimensions, which can match most original pipelines directly, greatly reducing renovation construction cost and period.

How does the duty/standby dual variable-frequency pump set switch automatically?

The VFD control cabinet supports automatic rotation and fault switching. When the operating pump fails or overloads, the standby pump starts automatically without manual operation, ensuring non-stop cooling and heating all year round.

Can motor voltage and flanges be customized for overseas HVAC export projects?

Customization available: 380V/400V/415V/220V motors for 50/60Hz; flanges comply with GB, ANSI, GOST standards.

What causes water leakage of operating pumps?

90% of leakage is caused by worn aging mechanical seals, which can be fixed by replacing the seal. Minor leakage comes from damaged flexible joints or aged flange gaskets; pumps can be repaired by replacing small accessories instead of whole units.
