Flushing Methods
Clean fluid is introduced to flush the sliding bearings and guarantee reliable pump operation. Two alternative flushing configurations are available to accommodate different process media conditions.
Self-Flushing
This scheme applies when the pumped medium is clean and free of impurities. A branch pipeline is diverted from the pump discharge flange, directing a portion of the process fluid to each sliding bearing assembly. The circulating fluid lubricates the sliding bearings and dissipates frictional heat, providing continuous cooling during operation.
External Flushing
External flushing is adopted for media carrying fine solid particles. An external pipeline connection supplies independent clean flushing fluid to all sliding bearings. The externally sourced clean liquid fulfills bearing lubrication and heat dissipation functions. Additionally, it blocks solid particulates from penetrating the friction pairs, effectively preventing abrasive wear of the bearing components.
